A peripheral device is an auxiliary device used to input and output data from a computer. The word peripheral device refers to all hardware components connected to a computer and controlled by the computer system that are not key components of the computer, such as the CPU or power supply unit. In other words, peripherals are devices that can easily be removed and inserted into a computer system.
